Hi Reader
Here are the 5 lessons that I learned after ✍️writing 22 books & selling 100,000+ copies 📚globally.
Read them slowly, introspect and you’ll gain some insights about where you need to focus more on in your writing journey.
So let’s begin
1. Nurture your curiosity
Remember, you don’t create curiosity on your own.
It comes from a sacred place- so find time every day to nurture it.
Start with just 30 minutes a day-
If you don’t have time, start this first thing in the morning- you’ll feel yourself much more profound
2. Capture ideas before they fly away:
Ideas are like butterflies–they fly in a matter of 5-7 seconds- so capture them quickly.
You make the mistake of thinking that you’ll recall it later (I did so a lot). But once you miss the idea, treat that as gone.
Use a digital notepad, carry a journal or do whatever- but don’t miss any more ideas.
3. An imperfect start is the only way to start:
If you think you’ll start anything in a just perfect way, you’ll end up not starting it at all or delay it so much that it doesn’t anymore look like a new idea.
Remember:
You don’t need to be great to start; you need to start, to become great.
Every master was first a disaster.
Here is what to do:
- Learn the basics of the game.
- Start working on it in public (and get feedback- read in the next bullet)
- Stay consistent with action and keep learning new things.
4. Feedback from your real consumers teaches you more than just learning
If you just keep on learning and not taking action, you’re missing the areas of improvement with feedback.
Treat your work like the release of new software. Always release the beta version with basic features.
You’ll get initial feedback on your work and that will help you improve your craft faster than just perfecting and waiting.
In my case, I closely watched all the constructive reviews on my books at Amazon and learned where I needed to improve.
5. You’ll often feel exhausted and think there are no new ideas any more- but that’s not true.
Ideas are not limited, as they come from the place of infinite intelligence and use you as a conduit to pass it on further.
Next time if you feel you’re short of ideas, ignore that feeling.
Explore more, read more on the subject, meet more people and you’ll again be flooded with new ideas.
Hope you found these useful.
Let me know which lesson you are already applying, and which one you need to focus more on.
Happy writing!
Cheers
