Who doesn’t want to get things done faster?

Try PDF Formula!

No, it is not your regular Adobe PDF document thing!

It is an Acronym, which I stumbled upon when I was listening to an online entrepreneur John Lee Dumas (@johnleedumas).  John is a hugely successful podcaster (an authority in his field) who runs a daily podcast show named “Entrepreneur On Fire” (www.eofire.com) and interviews successful entrepreneurs to hear their journey and explain the audience on how to become successful.

John explains that he uses this PDF Formula for his massive performance and achievement. Yes, it is really massive (with more than 1800 podcasts interviews since 2012). His monthly income reports speak much louder about his results (openly shared on www.eofire.com ). In case, you want, you may directly hear the formula from horse’s mouth directly.

Let’s see what is this PDF Formula?

PDF is an acronym, which stands for:

  • Productivity
  • Discipline
  • Focus

His first tenet of PDF Formula for getting things done in less time is to Increase your productivity and keep measuring it.

You need to keep a mental check on your activities during your day, if you had been productive during the day or simply being busy.

Tim Ferris @tferris) in his best-selling book “The 4 Hour Work Week” suggested to even keep an outlook alert on your screen asking this simple question every 2 hours.

“Am I being productive at this time or simply being busy”.

You must have heard the quote

“What gets measured, gets done”~ Tom Peters

So you have to regularly measure your progress, to achieve your goals in less time.

David Allen also talks about Stress-Free Productivity in his renowned book “Getting Things Done- The Art of Stress-Free Productivity”.

If you wish to dig deeper, there are few recommended and great books on boosting your productivity in a very structured and fast paced manner.

The second tenet of this Formula for getting things done faster is:

“DISCIPLINE”

Most of us think that discipline is the thing, which is needed only till we are in school. Once you are at your own, you forget the importance of discipline.

You tend to think that discipline is something, which binds you and scathes on your freedom.

But the reverse of this is true.

“True Freedom is impossible without a mind made free by Discipline”~ Moretime Adler

Because once you have taken action on your priorities, in a disciplined manner, you would be achieving your goals faster. You will be devoting the necessary importance and significance to your goal and achieve that much faster.

So discipline allows you to achieve more.

You notice that discipline in schools (imposed by our school and teachers) allows us to move up in our grades. But most of the population, once they are out of schools, don’t progress much in life, because they forget to maintain discipline in their lives. So they get stuck and remain part of mediocrity for life.

Only a very minuscule percentage of the population stays disciplined and then they keep on growing and progressing to higher standards of living. That’s the power of discipline.

Now last but not the least, comes the third and most important tenet of this PDF Formula for getting things done faster:

“FOCUS”

In fact, the term FOCUS itself is an Acronym, which gives a wonderful message.

  • Follow
  • One
  • Course
  • Until
  • Success

So it shows the power of persistence with laser sharp focus on one’s goal until realized. We live in the world of distractions today.

Most of us feel privileged to be hyper responsive to all our emails, social media notifications. You see the responses or likes coming from people within minutes or seconds of you sending out a email or message.

This is the efficiency in immersing at the distraction. But we don’t realize that this is at the cost of our ongoing important project. Though we might think it is going to be few seconds or minutes to revert instantly, which is right. But it steals attention for a much longer time. After immediately responding, your attention might be there to check, how the other person has reacted so far. So you get engrossed in that.

Also, even if you are back to work, this switching from your distractions and then back to your important work has a downtime of more than 20 minutes. In fact, there was a study conducted by the University of California, where it was shown that it takes on an average 23 minutes to get back to your original task.

That’s huge, isn’t it?

It is therefore clear that why most people are unable to finish their tasks well in time. That’s why they have to stay back longer in the office or bring work back to home.

“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work in hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to focus”~ Alaxandar Graham Bell

In my book “Procrastination No More” I have categorically listed out the most practical strategies to remove distractions to the extent of 75% instantly. You may check out the sample of the book by clicking “look inside” the book.

Therefore this PDF Formula, which seems quite obvious, but it is very effective when all the ingredients are put to work together.

I believe, it will let you get things done faster in much less time.
